Our Town Bogotol

We live in the part of the country which is called Siberia. It is rather large. Our native town Bogotol is situated in Krasnoyarsk Territory and is not far from Krasnoyarsk city.
The town Bogotol was founded in 1893 as a small railway station. It is situated not far from the river Chulim and is surrounded by great forests. The population of the town is about 25 thousand people. People of different nationalities live in Bogotol. The history of the town is connected with the development of the railway system and many people work there now. It is a big railway station and many trains stop here every day.
There are no big factories or plants here. It is mainly an agricultural grain-growing region. It produces a lot of vegetables, meat and milk. Many people have their own gardens where they grow vegetables and fruits. Some farmers breed cows, pigs, hens and sheep.
There are 6 secondary schools, a vocational school, technical secondary schools, hospitals, cafes, sport grounds, a stadium and the House of Culture.
Those who visit our town admire its beautiful country side and the river Chulim. People like to spend their free time on the bank of the river in summer. They make a fire, put up tents and organize picnics. Schoolchildren go on trips with their teachers in autumn and summer and learn much about the wildlife and plants.
There are many talented people our town: writers, poets, painters, teachers and doctors, workers. Our school teacher of Physics L. Antonov is also a writer and wrote some books connected with the history of the town.
It has become a tradition to celebrate the Day of the town in August. It is celebrated with concerts, sport competitions, exhibitions. From year to year our town becomes more beautiful and comfortable.
