Alyona’s holiday
New Year’s Day is more popular in our country than Christmas. It is a family event. In my family we prepare for it beforehand. We usually have a New Year tree at home which is decorated with toys and lights. All members of our family buy presents for each other and put them under the tree. I buy postcards and send them to my friends. In the evening we have a holiday supper with traditional dishes: roast chicken, salads, meat jelly, many other tasty things and sweets.
Everything is bright and nice on this day.

It sounds like a fun day during New Year's Alyona, I wouldn't mind having a New Year's day as fun as yours. My family and I don't celebrate the New Year's with a party, we just stay up until the New Year comes watching TV programs and then we go to sleep. Why is New Year's more popular than Christmas in your country?
Alyona your New year sounds fun. You get presents and have a delicious dinner with your family. Which holiday is your favorite Christmas or New Years. Alyona its interesting to me that in your country New Years is more important then Christmas because in my country Christmas and New Years are one of the two most important holidays through out the whole year and also during are Christmas we put up a tree with lights, adornments, and presents underneath.
Your new Years seems to be like alot of fun. I think it's really great that you and your family get a tree and decorate it with toys and light. On New Years I just stay up until midnight with my family and we yell Happy New Years at Midnight. I wonder why New Years is so impotant to you?
