Celebrating Valentine’s Day is becoming popular in Russia, but we still have our own way of doing things!

Writing a love letter or a postcard is essential. You can see a lot of nice heart-shaped cards, nicknamed “valentinkis” in the shops. Funny soft toys are also popular.
Red roses are a good present for a beloved girl. Roses are rather expensive on this day!
No Valentine’s Day is complete without chocolate!
For an afternoon break some young people visit a cafe and enjoy light snacks. After dark, local show or music concerts -jazz and rock- are very popular on Valentine’s Day.
Some young people consider it to be a Catholic holiday and don’t celebrate this day.
Anyway it has come to us from Europe and young people don’t think much about its origin but just celebrate!

Hey,
That's awesome that you have your own way of celebrating Valentine's Day, must be a lot of fun. Roses are nice for showing some love especially if they're red. I will try it next year celebrating it my own way.
Thank you for sharing..

Hello Russian friends,
Celebrating Valentine’s Day in Russia must be a special day to all Russians especially when you have your own way of celebrating Valentine’s Day. My family celebrates Valentine’s Day because my little cousin, Bethlehem, was born in Valentine’s Day. Why is Valentine’s Day becoming popular in Russia?
